In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impact, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES), became law in March 2020. This legislative package provides more than two trillion dollars of assistance, including direct cash payments to most Americans and loans for certain businesses.
